Amy Schumer Unveils Stunning “Dream Home” Transformation in New York City
Just four months after filing for divorce, actress Amy Schumer has meticulously transformed her New York City residence into what she describes as her “dream home.” The comedian, 44, acquired the spacious Upper West Side condo in January 2025 for $6.25 million. This purchase occurred nearly a year before she announced her separation from Chris Fischer, with whom she shares their son, Gene. The acquisition also preceded the couple listing their Brooklyn townhouse for $14 million.
Schumer had previously cited a desire to be closer to their son’s school as the reason for moving back to Manhattan. “He got into a good school and we’re too lazy to commute 45 minutes to take our son to school every day,” she explained to The Wall Street Journal at the time. However, mere days after their five-bedroom Brooklyn home sold for a reduced price of $11 million, Schumer publicly announced the end of her seven-year marriage to Fischer via a now-deleted Instagram post stating, “Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years.”
In January, Schumer offered her first glimpse into her new Manhattan sanctuary. The expansive 7,500-square-foot condo boasts breathtaking views overlooking Central Park and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir. While she has owned the property for over a year, Schumer recently shared the personalized touches she and her design team, Ashe Leandro, implemented to create her ideal living space. She expressed immense gratitude on Instagram, thanking the designers for their role in realizing her vision. “Thank you for helping me creat[e] my dream home,” she wrote, accompanying her message with images of the curated interiors and the spectacular vistas. “I’m grateful every single day. Beautiful and filled with love. I know I know but it’s true. I never dreamed I would get to live somewhere like my home.”
The photographs reveal a significant renovation of the main living room since Schumer’s initial purchase. The once prevalent white wall trim molding has been replaced with a sophisticated, moody gray limewash, and the chevron wood flooring is now artfully concealed beneath plush, cozy rugs. A generously sized gray sectional sofa anchors one section of the room, adorned with vibrant pale yellow and pink throw pillows. Situated behind a substantial wooden coffee table, this seating area is complemented by additional chairs strategically placed to offer ample seating.
The gray walls serve as a canvas for an impressive, oversized painting that stretches across one length of the room. An organic touch is added with a potted plant gracing a windowsill. In another area, a circular dining table, surrounded by six colorful armchairs, is positioned in front of a window, adjacent to a vintage dresser. A striking red lampshade overhead introduces an exotic flair. The residence also features a particularly inviting reading nook, offering unparalleled park views. This cozy corner is furnished with an enormous armchair, presenting an ideal spot for quiet contemplation with a warm beverage or a captivating book.
It remains uncertain whether Chris Fischer has also relocated to Manhattan to be closer to their son. Schumer initiated an uncontested divorce, indicating that the couple had already reached agreements regarding the division of assets, property, and child custody. However, the specific details of these arrangements have not been publicly disclosed. Schumer emphasized their commitment to amicable co-parenting when the split was announced. “We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son,” she stated.
A Glimpse into Schumer’s Diverse Property Portfolio
Beyond her New York City haven, Schumer owns several other properties. In October, she listed a New Orleans residence for $1.25 million, only to withdraw it from the market a few days later.
The two-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom New Orleans property, spanning 1,967 square feet, was initially put up for sale on October 26th, after Schumer had owned it for just four years. However, the listing disappeared less than a week later, with an insider revealing that Schumer experienced “cold feet” and decided against selling. Schumer had previously shared that she and Fischer invested in the New Orleans home after she “fell in love” with the city in 2016. She explained in a video for Homeworthy that their time in New Orleans increased over the years due to her stand-up tours, marriage, and pregnancy, leading them to purchase and renovate the “beautiful place” in 2021 to create their “dream, dramatic New Orleans hang.”
This New Orleans property was part of a growing real estate portfolio that gained attention in 2016 when Schumer purchased her childhood farm. Her family had lost the farm during a period of bankruptcy. Schumer described this experience in an Instagram post, stating, “We lost the farm when we lost everything else.” Located in the Catskills, this farm is understood to serve as a personal retreat for Schumer. She shared a humorous photo from the property during the holiday season, depicting herself asleep in a playroom while her son, off-camera, played with a toy airplane. The image, showing a room equipped with a climbing wall and jungle gym, was captioned, “Winter break you win okay!?! You’ve shattered us all. Open the schools!!!!”
Further enhancing her Catskills retreat, Schumer had a custom treehouse constructed by Pete Nelson, known as the “tree whisperer” to the stars. According to Nelson’s website, such structures can range in price from hundreds of thousands to over $1 million. It is estimated that Schumer invested approximately $200,000 in her “dream” woodland dwelling. The treehouse boasts impressive features, including a grand staircase leading from the ground to a spacious, railed deck. This outdoor area is furnished with a table and chairs for relaxation, while the interior offers a comfortable L-shaped couch, a vibrantly colored rug, wood-paneled walls, and a ladder ascending to a large loft.
